Cheap Christmas Gifts
Mugs are always a great cheap gift idea because everyone can always use a mug for something. Best of all these mugs stuffed with goodies are all under $5. If I’m being truthful, they’re actually under $4, but somehow and odd number sounded better, hah.
These cheap DIY Christmas gifts from the Dollar Tree make a great quick gift for co-workers, friends, teacher or hostess gifts etc. Since they are so cheap, they would be also be cute party favors at your next holiday party!
For some of these gifts the more you make, the cheaper they become a piece. For example, I stuffed one mug with candy canes and hot cocoa, this is enough to make two or three mugs.
Now this isn’t like some other posts I’ve seen, all these items actually come from the Dollar Store! With the exception of one ribbon scrap I found laying around, but everything else I adorned the mugs with came from the Dollar Store.
Adding ribbon to the mugs makes them so cute, you don’t even have to wrap them if you don’t want to. And this my friends, will be the ultimate time saver for you. Wrap in ribbon or add some fun bells or ornaments and you are good to go!
Just a couple other pointers for you:
- All the mugs are solid colors, except for the snowman mug. You could go with a holiday mug, but I also like the idea of going with a festive solid color mug and decorating it with ribbon to make it feel like Christmas. That way the recipient can use these year around
- To affix the ribbon around some of these mugs, I didn’t use anything fancy, just regular scotch tape. You could tie the ribbon to make a cute bow.
- I placed tissue paper at the bottom of the mugs. This way you’re recipients will be able to see all their goodies. If you want them to be more of a surprise, wrap them in tissue paper or a cellophane bag and ribbon.
So, be sure to check out these DIY Christmas gift ideas from the Dollar Tree below and let me know how they turned out! Have a Merry (and hopefully inexpensive) Christmas!

2. Sugar Plum Fairy Cheap DIY Gift
What’s inside:
- 3 pack bag of bath bombs
- Nail Polish
- That shiny object is a bell, but wouldn’t it be cute if the bath bomb looked like that haha.
Tidbits:
- These bath bombs came in a 3 pack. They were individually wrapped in plastic. If your bath bombs aren’t wrapped in plastic, I would put them in a little cellophane bag so they don’t get all over the mug.
- I didn’t really add a lot of cute wrapping touches like the other mugs, but you know what to do! Ribbon and sparkle it up!

I’m making cake in a mug Mixes for Christmas gifts, along with the mugs. Everyone love a sweet dessert sometimes. And all my family loves chocolate, so that is what I’m making. Mugs were $1 each. The cake mixes on sale. Dollar Tree had them for $1 each. The most expensive part was the Angel Food cake mix.
That’s an awesome idea Deborah, thanks for sharing! You can never go wrong with cake. Have a very Merry Christmas!
Hi Deborah,

I have new candle glass conteiners now i fill it with chocolates to be gifts to my friends always nice ideas i love pinterest merry christmas
Maritza, love your candle idea! Chocolate is always a great gift, yum! Hope you had a Merry Christmas as well!
You know what would be cute would be to put, for example, hot cocoa mix, marshmallows, and candy canes (all separated of course) in a mason jar or something, and then put a label on the jar that says “some assembly required.” It would add just a little bit of humor to the gift, and I love that, haha!
Syberyah, I love that idea! Thanks for the suggestion, that would be really cute!
