Greek Yogurt
Almost any yogurt will work, but using Greek yogurt adds significant protein to this snack and limits the sugar content.
Honey
One of the best things about this recipe is that you control the sugar content.
Most store-bought yogurt is surprisingly high in sugar in spite of its sour taste.
If you want lower sugar content, don’t add the honey. If you want a little more sweetness, add sweet mix-ins.
Vanilla Extract
Real and pure vanilla extract will provide the best flavor.
Strawberries & Blueberries
Frozen or fresh will both work.
Chocolate Chips
Pick your favorite kind! From dark chocolate to milk chocolate, any chips will work.
If you’re avoiding refined sugar, you can always skip the chocolate drizzle on top. Another option is you could melt a tiny bit of unsweetened dark chocolate.

Mix-Ins and Topping Alternatives
Adapting the yogurt bark recipe for variety is super easy! Just change up the mix-ins or toppings and you have a whole new snack.
You can keep it ultra-healthy or make a few that are more on the decadent side.
Try These Mix-Ins Instead of Blueberries or Strawberries
- Chocolate Chips. Instead of melting chocolate chips to drizzle, mix them into the bark.
- M&M candies. Crushed or whole will work.
- Toasted walnuts or pecans. Toasting brings out the natural goodness of the nut, I would not mix in raw nuts.
- Dried cranberries. Honestly, almost any dried fruit would work.
- Dried blueberries
- Raisins
- Toasted coconut. If you love coconut you could also stir in some coconut milk.
- Cocoa nibs. A little on the bitter side, these little nibs have health benefits and are also quite tasty.
- Crushed peppermint. This might seem like a seasonal add-on, but you can purchase or make crushed peppermint all year round if you love the flavor.
- Crushed butterscotch candies. These old-fashioned candies are big on flavor.
- Toffee. You can buy toffee where you buy chocolate chips. Yum.
- Jelly. Swirl in your favorite jelly flavor.
Try These Toppings Instead of Drizzled Chocolate
- White chocolate or butterscotch chips. Melted and drizzled as per the recipe.
- Nuts like peanuts or walnuts. Toasted and crushed for the best flavor.
- Slivered almonds. Toasted and scattered on the top.
- Granola. Pick your favorite or try a new flavor for variety.
- Coconut flakes
- Sprinkles. Especially if you are making yogurt bark for your kids to have a healthy snack, this is a nice touch.
- Orange zest. A little orange flavor will complement the mix-ins nicely.
- Chia seeds. Add more healthy nutritional value and a little bit of crunch.
- Crushed graham crackers or Oreos. Almost any crushed cookies will add a nice sweetness and crunch. If you don’t want too much sugar content just use this topping sparingly.
Tips and Tricks for Making the Best Frozen Yogurt Bark
Since you are already freezing the yogurt, you could use frozen fruit as a mix-in with no detriment to the flavor.
If using fruit, make sure you choose a fruit that can be eaten frozen. Some fruit gets too hard frozen to chew.
Spread the mixture out evenly on a sheet pan lined with parchment paper and freeze it first. This allows it to freeze quickly and evenly, creating nice flat pieces.
Then break it up into snack-sized pieces and package it in freezer-safe containers to store.
