Savory Homemade Keto Snacks
Before I get to all the keto snacks, I just wanted to let you know about this wildly popular keto eCookbook bundle.
It has 120+ tasty keto recipes that have only five net carbs and are super simple to make.
Now back to the keto snacks…
1. Bacon Wrapped Mushrooms
100+ Keto Snacks (Best Keto Snack Recipes & Easy Keto Snack Ideas)
Ingredients
- 5 Medium sized portobello mushrooms Roughly two inches across
- 2 oz. Cream cheese
- 5 Strips of bacon
- 3 Chives
- ⅛ tsp Garlic powder
Instructions
- Get your pan ready on your stovetop by setting it to medium heat. Take your cream cheese out of the refrigerator so it can soften.
- Wash your mushrooms and remove the stems. You can pull them out by hand and once removed your mushrooms should look like little bowls.
- Place your mushrooms and bacon in the pan. Cooking the mushrooms in the bacon grease is my secret to making them extra flavorful. If you need to cook them separate be sure to use a little oil or butter on your mushrooms. They should take about 10-15 minutes depending on your stovetop.
- While that cooks you can prepare your stuffing. Start by washing and chopping your chives. In a bowl mix the cream cheese and chives together then sprinkle in your garlic powder and stir.
- Place your cooked mushrooms on a plate and use a spoon to stuff your cream cheese mixture into the underside of the mushrooms.
- Once stuffed, wrap a single slice of bacon around each mushroom. Secure with a toothpick as needed to keep everything together, although I did not need to do this step. You may have to do this depending on the size of the mushroom.
2. Keto Cucumber & Turkey Sandwiches
With only 30 calories per sandwich, these are some of the best low calorie keto snacks.
If you need something a little more filling, just have four or five of these mini sandwiches.
Ingredients

- 1/2 Turkey Lunch Meat Slice
Instructions
1. Spread cream cheese onto a cucumber slice.
2. Then add your turkey meat on top.
3. Take another cucumber slice and put it on top of your turkey making a sandwich.

Dipping cucumbers in cottage cheese is quite tasty.
88. Cucumbers & Cream Cheese

Bulletproof coffee is a great snack on the keto diet, especially combined with a handful of berries or something light.

Keto Low Carb Snacks On A Budget: Tips & Hacks That’ll Save You Money!
On a budget? These money-saving snack tips will help you out!
(Don’t miss my top ten picks for super cheap low-carb snacks listed after these tips.)
1. Avoid anything premade or precut and prep it yourself.
Precut vegetables, fruit, and meat is going to be more expensive than just preparing them yourself.
2. Skip prepackaged snacks marketed as keto and opt for homemade whenever possible.
Prepackaged keto cookies, crackers, chips, bars, etc. can add up.
While super convenient and perfectly fine to enjoy, if you’re trying to cut costs it’s best to skip these altogether.
The keto snack recipe section at the beginning of the post has all the homemade snacks you could ever need.
If ditching prepackaged foods isn’t possible because of convenience, even cutting back some will help save you money.
3. If you do buy packaged keto snacks, shop around for the best prices.
Keep your eyes peeled for weekly sales on your favorite keto packaged foods both online and in-store.
4. Buy in bulk if you can.
Purchasing foods in larger quantities or in the bulk section is many times cheaper.
As long as you don’t let food go to waste which can cost you money, buying in bulk is a great option for your wallet.
Save money on these keto snack foods by purchasing in bulk:
- Nuts & seeds
- Frozen berries
- Beef sticks & beef jerky
- Nut butters
- Coffee & tea
- Frozen keto-friendly veggies
- Canned tuna
- Cheese
- Keto friendly chocolate
- Meat to freeze for later
5. Keep your snacks simple.
Some snack ideas involve many ingredients while others are as simple as grabbing a handful of nuts.
From a money-saving standpoint, opt for snacks that don’t require many ingredients.
Herbs and spices can really add up, so if possible choose recipes using herbs you already have at home.

Keto Snack Guide

Ketogenic Snacks Tips & Tricks
1. Drink some water before reaching for a snack.
It sounds funny but it’s pretty easy to confuse thirst for hunger sometimes.
One great trick is to drink a glass of water and wait fifteen minutes. If you feel content, you were most likely just thirsty.
If your tummy is grumbling or making noises, it’s probably time to grab a snack.
2. Always keep a non-perishable snack with you at all times, you never know when hunger might strike.
Keep some snacks in your purse, car, at your desk, etc.
It’s always better to be prepared and will help you from mindlessly eating something you shouldn’t.
3. Make your snacks ahead of time when you meal prep all your other recipes for the week.
If you have a day you do all your meal prep, don’t forget to prep your snacks too!
4. Try not to snack when distracted (or try to do this less). Being mindful is key.
If you snack while watching tv, scrolling on your phone, etc., it’s easy to overeat.
Try to be present when you’re snacking so you don’t end up overeating.
While it’s great to be mindful when eating, don’t beat yourself up if you got distracted and ate too much.
There are also times when you may just want to zone out and enjoy your snack while watching Netflix. That’s totally fine too!
Even if you practice mindful eating some of the time you’ll see a big reduction in eating when you’re not hungry.
Keto Snacking – Mistakes To Avoid
When it comes to snacking on a keto diet, there are some mistakes you might want to avoid or things to watch out for.
Remember, if you make one of these mistakes, it’s perfectly okay. These are just suggestions and they may not apply to everyone.
1. Don’t overdo sweet keto snacks.
You may have noticed I have an entire section above of sweet keto snacks.
While it’s perfectly fine to indulge in some keto treats, you may find eating too many will lead to a stall in weight loss.
Another thing to consider is some of the sweet snacks use keto-friendly sweeteners.
These are wonderful in moderation but sometimes if you overdo them you might have some stomach upset.
This may not be the case at all for you but just wanted to throw it out there.
2. Look out for packaged snacks marketed as keto friendly. Be sure to check the net carbs and ingredients.
Being that the keto diet is super popular, everyone is jumping on the keto bandwagon.
Just because something is marketed as “keto” doesn’t mean it’s keto-friendly.
To be safe, always read the label to make sure the ingredients are keto-friendly and low in net carbs.
3. Not having variety in your snacks so you get bored.
For me, I can eat the same thing over and over again. The same goes for snacks.
Sometimes I’ll have the same keto snacks for a month before I get sick of them!
But after a while, I end up getting bored and that’s when I go eat something that’s not keto-friendly.
(Now that’s okay to do if you make a conscious decision to go off your keto diet but when I do this it’s out of feeling bored with my food.)
If you can relate to this, instead of having the same snack for weeks, you might want to vary it up a bit.
This post is filled with so many keto snacking ideas so you’ll be able to prevent boredom in the first place.
4. Snacking on foods you dislike just because they are keto-friendly.
This one is fairly common with people on any sort of weight loss diet.
People will force themselves to eat foods they dislike just because they think they should or it will help them reach their goals.
With so many keto-friendly foods, why eat something you hate?
Keto Friendly Snacks FAQ
In this section, we’ll go over some common keto snack questions that you may be having.
I’ll do my best to answer these questions but keep in mind some answers are subjective.
You always should do what feels right for you.
Are keto snacks healthy?
Yes, keto snacks can be healthy depending on their ingredients and how they’re made. At the same time, there are plenty of unhealthy keto snacks as well.
For example, what’s more healthy…
Packaged keto chips with many processed ingredients or a handful of nuts and keto-friendly veggies?
Of course, you wouldn’t say the keto chips are the healthiest option between the two.
But, in essence, the two snacks are both keto-friendly. One may be healthier than the other but both could be eaten on a keto diet.
Can you snack a lot on keto?
Yes, if needed you can snack a lot on keto but moderation is key. Overdoing snacks can possibly lead to weight gain.
If you’re having big meals plus excessively snacking, you may not see as much weight loss or hit a weight loss plateau.
How many snacks a day can you have on keto?
It’s best to stick to one to three snacks a day on keto.
If you find you need more snacks than this, you may want to examine if you’re eating snacks for another reason besides hunger.
It’s also possible your meals aren’t filling enough and that’s why you’re snacking too much.
- Snacking for other reasons like boredom or stress?
You may want to look at other activities you can do to take your mind off food.
- Oversnacking because you’re way too hungry between meals?
Try adding some extra calories to your meals preferably from a fat source so you feel satisfied longer and need fewer snacks.
Remember…
When it comes to snacking there is no one size fits all approach because everyone is different.
Someone who is super active versus someone who is sedentary might need a lot more snacks.
Why are keto snacks so expensive?
Keto snacks, specifically packaged snacks, are so expensive because of the popularity of the keto diet.
When companies market products as being keto-friendly they know they can raise the prices because there is high demand for their products.
In addition, refined carb snacks like potato chips and crackers are cheaper to produce.
The good news is while packaged keto snacks can be costly, there are plenty of affordable keto snacks.
If you haven’t already, check out these cheap keto snacks and money-saving snack tips mentioned in this post.
Where can I get keto snacks near me?
Most grocery stores and retailers that have a grocery section carry a good selection of keto healthy snacks.
Below are the store locator pages so you can find keto snacks near you:
- Albertsons
- Aldi
- Costco
- Publix
- Kroger
- Safeway
- Sprouts Farmers Market
- Target
- Trader Joe’s
- Walmart

June, that sounds like a perfect snack for the golf course! Let me know how they turned out!
Hey so I get sick whenever I eat any kind of pork… any way I could replace some of the meals?
Hi Nom Nom. We don’t want you getting sick:) So the best thing you can do is replace pork items with their non-pork counterparts. So for anything with bacon, try turkey bacon. It’s really good and I found I like to cook it a little longer and make it really crispy (it seems to taste more like regular bacon this way). Also for the pigs & a blanket hot dog snack, try turkey dogs, they’re very good as well. When something calls for ham lunch meat, just use turkey. Also, I don’t think there are any recipes in this post, but if something calls for ground pork, replace with ground beef, ground turkey, or chicken. Good luck:)
These Keto snacks look fantastic!
Very glad you liked them Lynne! Cheers:)
Nice post, thanks for sharing. And I suggest to do some low impact exercise at home. Like Yoga, or exercise on indoor cycling bike.
Thanks Olivia. Good point about adding exercise, and those are all great additions to the keto diet!
Oh my! I am having an hard time to choose my favourite here! these snack all look super delish. The sugar free granola bars and the BLT avocados though…probably would pick these two 🙂 but I d eat them all lol.
Yeah, I agree it is a hard decision. I’ve tried the BLT avocados & they are really good!
Hello.. I really enjoyed your post. I’m wondering if there are any recipes out there without cheese.
Hey Elka. Glad you enjoyed it. I know it’s hard finding keto recipes without cheese or dairy. Healthful Pursuit is a keto blog that has many dairy free recipes, so they all will not have cheese. Just go to her recipe page here and you can check “dairy free” as an option. Also, this post from I Breathe I’m Hungry has many dairy free recipe ideas as well. Hope it helps:)
